NYPD directive to ease restrictions on photography in the city
Since I’ve had two separate issues with taking photos in Manhattan, it good to hear that a NY police department directive was issued stating “Photography and the videotaping of public places, buildings and structures are common activities within New York City . . . and is rarely unlawful”
This city–more than any other in the U.S.–is a source for a lot of amazing photography. It’s been a shame to hear of all the people having police interactions simply for of taking photos. Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne says that the directive is a “reminder [to officers] not to do that.”
Apparently, a successful lawsuit changes things.
